Mann attended medical school at the University of Melbourne and earned a PhD in Cancer Genetics in 1995. His surgical training was at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, where he specialized in surgical oncology and especially the treatment of breast cancer. In his practice, Professor Mann specializes in breast cancer and breast surgery, melanoma surgery, stomach cancer (gastric cancer) surgery, and the surgical treatment of sarcoma (soft tissue tumors).
